Description
This integrated waste management facility was constructed to handle all the household waste and recycling requirements for the borough of Southwark and achiever BREEAM “good” rating.
It includes a mechanical and biological treatment plant, material recovery facilities, a household waste reuse and recycle centre and an educational visitors’ centre. In addition, a separate office block for council employees which incorporates a micro-power generation through PV panels to provide 20% of its energy requirements.
Arctica provided architectural consultancy services including a fire strategy for the whole site.
