Arctica strengthens team with senior project management appointment

Stamford-based architectural firm Arctica has strengthened its industrial buildings design team with the appointment of new senior architectural project manager, Glenn Collingwood.

Glenn has re-joined Arctica after working for the firm previously, between 2005 and 2015. He joins Arctica from the BE Design Partnership where he was senior architectural coordinator managing construction projects utilising Building Information Modelling (BIM).

With over 20 years’ architectural design and management experience, Glenn has managed a diverse range of large scale architectural projects including distribution hubs, student accommodation and Olympic Park legacy work. He has also undertaken architectural design and project management for large process driven industrial buildings, including ship yards, waste management facilities and food manufacturing buildings.

One of Glenn’s key tasks will be help Arctica’s transition over to using Autodesk Revit to provide 3-D BIM Models plus helping to develop Arctica’s BIM protocols.

3-D modelling and BIM will support Arctica’s core services in building design as well as cost management, construction management, project management and facility operation.

Arctica director Niall McQuitty said: “We are very pleased to welcome Glenn back to Arctica. He will be a valuable addition to our core team.

“Designing and constructing a food processing facility presents some unique challenges including harsh environments due to processing and cleaning requirements, food safety controls, the integration of food preparation, production and packaging flow with people movements within the building layout and the need to minimise building footprint and maximise cost efficiencies. Glenn’s experience will ensure that we deliver large scale projects on time and within budget.”

Glenn added: “It’s great to be back with the Arctica team. I am looking forward to utilising the skills I have developed with both Union Square document management system and Autodesk Revit to further strengthen the already successful architectural team.”

In his spare time, Glenn enjoys the gym, golf, swimming, karate, watching sports and spending time with his children, Luke and Jake, and his family and friends.
