Ras Laffan, Qatar

• Part of a massive expansion of Ras Laffan Refinery, this new facility provides for the repair and maintenance of very large tankers and the construction of smaller vessels.
• Arctica provided architectural consultancy services for the design and construction drawings of 11 major buildings with a total floor area of 235,000m² or 2.5 million sq.feet.
• The buildings comprise offices and amenity facilities for up to 6000 people, crew quarters, specialist workshops, stores, fabrication sheds and a new ship construction hall.
• 43-hectare site, 7km into the Arabian Gulf on reclaimed land and due to be operational by 2010.
• Some statistics: ship construction hall is 270m x 95m x 45m high; canteens to seat 3,200 people, one with 1,200 seats; offices for 1,500 staff.
