Big Buildings
What sized buildings can we handle?
There’s no simple answer as it depends on Arctica’s role within the project team.
These 4 images are all drawn to the same scale:
- Wisbech Cold Store is a £30 million clad rack structure with robotic materials handling, currently under construction. Arctica obtained planning permission and are providing all architectural construction detailing.
- Phase 4 of Ras Laffan is the largest of 12 buildings at this ship yard in Qatar. This building enables 4 x No. 8,000 tonne ships to be built inside at one time. It is 270m long, 95m wide with a 65m clear span and 45m high. There is also office accommodation for 450. Arctica designed this building from concept onwards, including all architectural construction documentation.
- Lakeside Energy from Waste Plant is 45m high, and the construction cost of the civils element was £30 million. Arctica provided architectural consultancy to the lead engineering consultant. Construction detailing of all the external shell, the 5 storey office building, and the fire strategy for the whole development were all by Arctica.
